1 Year Appointment
Mason had his one year checkup today. He weighed 20lbs 8oz, and was 29.5 inches long. The appointment went well. The doctor was pleased with all of his progress. She has referred us to a gastroenterologist for Mason's tummy issues. Hopefully, this doctor will be able to help us figure out what he is sensitive to.

Dear Mason
One year ago, at around this time, you were still in my belly. I was in the process of checking into the hospital where you would be born. Several hours later, you were in my arms.
You have changed so much in the past year and developed quite the personality. You love playing with your toys, especially small objects that you can hold in your hand. You are able to put shapes into your shape sorter. Your favorite "toy" is still Kaiser. He always keeps you entertained. You are finally starting to eat more solid foods. Daddy and I have been trying to fatten you up, but you are making it very difficult.
You can crawl, pull yourself up, and cruise around the furniture. When I tell you that "I'm gonna get you", you try to run away so that you don't get tickled, and you normally fall down because you can't move fast enough.
You took your first few steps a few days ago. Daddy and I are so proud of you. You can only do it if you get a "running" start from the ottoman. It is quite funny because most of the time you forget to move your legs and just hold out your arms for me to catch you as you fall to the floor.
You absolutely love the water. You would stay in your bath for as long as we would let you, but we normally don't let you stay in that long. You love splashing and it always makes you giggle.
You are a terrible sleeper. You wake up almost every night with tummy pains. Most people say I should let you cry, but it doesn't feel right to me. So, I am up with you every night trying to make you feel better. I know that this time will go by so quickly, so I try not to worry about it. If I have learned anything from you, it is patience.
You like to show everyone how big you are by throwing your arms in the air. You also love peek-a-boo. You can wave hello and goodbye. When we ask for a kiss, you smack your lips together, which is so cute.
You aren't saying many words right now, besides mama and dada. You said "doggie" a couple of times, but haven't said it lately, so I'm not sure if you really said it or not.
Mason, you are such a big boy now. Happy Birthday!
Love,
Mommy
