German Christmas Markets

We went to Cologne and Dusseldorf this past weekend to get a taste of the christmas markets that the Germans are known for. We had a great time! Here is the cathedral in Cologne. The cathedral took 600 years to build. It was absolutely beautiful. You can see the market in front.

It was a fun mix of children's rides, toys, cookies and candy...

... along with the adult fun of lots of warm alcoholic drinks. We tried the Gluhwein, which is hot spiced wine that people seem to rave about. But, my favorite was the eierpunsch (kind of like egg nog). So delicious!

On our last part of our trip we made a visit to the aquarium in Dusseldorf. Mason had a great time running around and being loud.
