26 Weeks

This weekend was pretty good. Efe and I went to Ale Emporium, which is one of our favorite places. Unfortunately, it is a pub. So, it means that baby will not be able to go with us when he comes. We've been trying to go there a lot lately before the baby comes. We know that we can still go later, but it will be much more difficult and we will need a sitter.

People have been asking that I post a picture of my growing belly. Here it is at 26 weeks.

19 Week Ultrasound

OK, I didn't put this out when I should have, but here it is. I was hoping he would look like me, but this ultrasound seriously looks like Efe laying down.

The Crib...

We decided to order what is called a lifetime crib. This means that the crib later converts into a full size bed. Here is a picure of the crib that we ordered. It also shows the matching dresser that we ordered, to the left. We did not get the hutch that goes on top of the dresser. The second picture is what the crib looks like once it is converted to a bed.

Bedding

Here is a picture of the bedding that we picked out for the baby's room. We had to compromise a bit. I wanted something that was cute, but Efe didn't like some of the cute things. I think that they weren't boyish enough. He did like all of the bedding with sports in them though. So, we compromised and got a teddy bear playing sports.

Lots Done!

Efe and I worked on the yard this weekend. We got all of the sticks picked up from the yard, and weeds pulled from the flowers. Efe fertilized the lawn. We made a deal that I would do the baby registries and he would mow and fertilize the lawn. Good deal for all!

I went to Walmart and Babies R Us and created our baby registries. This was not as fun as I was hoping. It was actually very tiring. Plus, I really didn't know how much I needed of each thing. How is someone to know how many bibs to get? Walmart was of no help, but at least Babies R Us gave a list of things that you should probably register for. That helped a lot. The registering was fun at first, but then I was just so tired that I wanted to stop. After that, I went to Home Depot to get lawn fertilizer to take to Efe. I also went and ordered the crib and dresser set that we picked out. They said that it will take 8-10 weeks. So, I guess we won't be setting up the baby's room too soon yet. After all of this, I was exausted.

The baby didn't help out much with these weekend chores, but we are looking forward to the day when he will be old enough to help!

Baby's Position a Little Off?

So, I have noticed that for some reason my hips are getting bigger along with my stomach. I have decided that this is because the baby is reaching his arms and legs around my middle section. It is the only explanation that I can think of. My legs have gotten a little bigger too, but I really don't know how he is reaching down there. I thought that only my stomach was supposed to grow, but apparently not. I hope I'm going to be able to fit into regular clothes again after the birth. OK, I'm going to go for a bike ride and see if that helps...

24 Weeks - Heartburn

Yuck. Every time that I eat, it feels like my chest is on fire. Today was a little better, but the past few days were bad. It almost makes me not want to eat... almost :)

We have so many things still to take care of. We still have to order our crib/dresser. We picked out a couple that we like, but we haven't ordered yet. We need to do it soon because they told us it takes 10 weeks to come in.

We need to register and get ready for the baby shower. I think the shower is going to be June 4th. So, I need to get in and register soon. I still don't really know what to even register for.

We picked out a day care center that we like. Unfortunately, they said that they are not accepting any infants until December or January! I can' t believe that the baby isn't even born and we can't get him in to day care. They did say that sometimes things open up, so I guess we'll wait and see.

23 Week Doctor Visit

We had a doctor visit this week. The doctor says that the heartbeat sounds good, and I appear to be growing at a healthy rate. So, he is healthy so far.

The doctor did tell me that I need to eat more protein to ensure good brain development of the baby. So, I will be adjusting my diet to make sure that I'm getting enough. The doc suggested that I drink a protein shake. I told him that I don't think I can drink anything that tastes gross right now, or it will make me sick. He said that it doesn't have to taste gross, and that I can put bananas in it or chocolate syrup. That doesn't sound so bad! Hopefully it doesn't taste too good. Otherwise, I will probably drink 5 per day and gain too much weight! I wonder if I can mix it with a Dairy Queen blizzard?

I have had a hard time resisting my cravings lately. I've been trying really hard to eat healthy, but it is hard. I really just want to eat sour candy for some reason. Also, I want to eat ice cream (however, I craved this when I wasn't pregnant so I'm not sure I'm allowed to use this as an excuse). This morning, I actually was craving chicken liver. Yummy... it still sounds good.

23 Weeks - Martial Artist in my Belly

Well, the cute little "flutters" have turned to serious kicking. Yesterday, for the first time, I stared at my belly and I could see it moving. It is an amazing thing that a little baby weighing only 1 lb could make movements like this.

Luckily, this movement doesn't hurt. The problem is that now I'm expecting him to be moving at certain times. If I don't think that he is moving enough, I start to get a little freaked out. I think that Efe thought I was a little weird for worrying so much. Now I'm getting used to the fact that he isn't going to move every minute, and that is ok.

Itching to Get Out

My stomach has really been itching. From what I have ready online, this is something that can happen because the skin is streching out. It is itching pretty bad, but I'm trying not to itch too much. I will ask my doctor about it at our next appointment.

It has been hard to sleep lately. I've been waking up really hot at night. Also, I'm used to sleeping on my stomach, and I can't do that anymore. I have resorted to sleeping on my side. However, sometimes I roll slightly on my stomach. When I do this, the baby let's me know right away. He starts kicking a lot, as if to say "Hey, get off me!". At first I thought it was pretty funny. Now, I am getting tired of being awakened by kicks to the stomach.

This is scary, because all of the books that I have read on pregnancy state that it is difficult to sleep in the third trimester. I'm only part way through the second trimester. So much to look forward to!
