35 Weeks - Still see my toes...

Well, I checked today and I can still see my toes. OK, I admit, I could only see the end of them. I did have to lean over a little bit to see the full set of toes, but I can see them. We only have 5 weeks left.

I have noticed what I think is called "lightening", which is when the baby's head starts to drop into the pelvis to prepare for childbirth. I could be wrong, but it feels like that is what is happening because I feel a lot of pressure in my pelvis now. It feels like the baby is pushing himself lower. The problem is... now there isn't as much pressure on my stomach and it makes me want to eat all of the time.

I'm not sure how I'm going to stop myself from gaining 20 lbs in the next 5 weeks, but I will have to try to show some self control. It is hard because, for the first time, I feel like I want to eat all the time. I never really seem to get full. I know the baby is growing a lot right now and he is hungry, but there is no way he could eat the amount of food that I'm tempted to eat. I just have to try to eat as healthy as possible and hope for the best!

I had an embarrassing moment today. I was leaving work, and it was raining really hard. Unfortunately, my car was parked really far away. I was getting soaked. I tried really hard to run, but it was really like a jog/waddle, and I don't think it was much faster than when I was walking. Hopefully nobody saw me. I finally realized that it wasn't doing any good to try to run, so I had to settle with getting soaked by the rain.

34 Week Doctor Appt

I had a doctor checkup today. Everything looks great. The baby's heartbeat sounds good, and he is growing quite a bit now. My blood pressure was still normal, and I only have a little bit of swelling. I've been very lucky so far. Hopefully the rest of the pregnancy will go well too.

34 Weeks

I've been feeling pretty fatigued lately. It seems like normal activities easily exhaust me. Other than the tiredness, I've been feeling OK. We only have 6 weeks to go, and that is a little scary. It seems like the weeks are starting to go by quickly now and I don't feel prepared for the baby to come yet. I guess I probably won't ever feel completely prepared though.

Efe's parents were in town for the weekend. Efe's dad came over and helped us pick up the dresser for the baby's room. Now that we have the dresser, I can start doing some more work on getting the baby's room organized. We went over to his sister's house on Saturday and his mom cooked dinner, so that was fun.

According to the books, the baby probably weighs around 4 3/4 lbs now and measures about 18 inches. One good thing is that 99 percent of babies this age can survive outside the womb — and most have no major long-term problems related to prematurity.

Another Baby Shower!

My mom threw me a baby shower this weekend for the people that live in my home town. It was a great shower. The baby got lots of presents and now has most of the main things that he needs. Everyone has been so generous, and it has really helped to take some of the financial burden off of us.

Now we have had the showers, so we need to go through everything that we have and what we still need. I feel way behind because we only have 7 weeks left and we really haven't even started decorating the nursery yet. We will go this weekend and buy the baby bedding for the crib. This will be a good start to the nursery. Luckily the baby can't see very well in the beginning, so if we finish the nursery a little late he probably won't notice.

We still have to go pick up the dresser for the nursery. We've been putting it off because we need someone to help Efe carry it upstairs. My dad is coming to visit in a few weeks, and he will be able to help us pick it up if we haven't gotten it by then.

32 Week Doctor Appt

I had my 32 Week checkup today. Everything looks great. The doctor said that the growth is perfect so far, and he probably weighs around 3.5 pounds. She also said that the baby's head is already down. He may turn back around, but hopefully he will keep his head down for the rest of the pregnancy. He's getting ready!

32 Weeks - Baby Shower

I had my baby shower this weekend. It was lots of fun. My friends Leah and Tina hosted it for me. They did a great job. We had lots of food and games, and the baby got lots of great presents from my friends and family members. Here is a picture of us at the shower, Leah on the left and Tina on the right.
