This was a good weekend. It still seemed short, even though it was a holiday. On Friday we went to Ale Emporium to have some pizza with friends. Efe grilled out for Maro and I on Sunday, and that was fun.
Yesterday, we put the crib together! It took us a really long time because the instructions were a little off, but we got it taken care of. I was very proud of us. It is nice to finally have a piece of furniture in the baby's room. It make everything feel a little more real than it did before. We only have 9 weeks left to go, so that is very exciting.
We decided that we aren't going to paint the baby's room. We just couldn't come up with a color that we thought would look good with the bedding. The only one was light blue, and we thought that it might be too much blue, considering the bedding is blue. We just decided that we will have to hang lots of stuff on the walls to keep it from looking plain. Hopefully it will look ok. If not, we may change our minds and decide to paint. We'll see...

30 Week Doctor Appointment
I had an appointment with the obstetrician today. Everything went well. He said the heartbeat still sounds good, and the growth looks good. He is also increasing my iron some more. I guess I really need a lot of iron right now.
When the doctor had an instrument on my stomach to listen to the heartbeat, the baby kicked him. The doctor thought it was pretty funny, and I did too. Then the baby kicked him again. The doctor said, "I guess he doesn't really think that I need to check his heartbeat".

Chicago Trip
Efe and I went to Chicago this weekend. We decided to go there to visit some friends while I still feel up to travelling. We went to dinner on Friday night at an Italian restaurant in Wicker Park. On Saturday night, we went and watched a comedy show. We had lots of fun. It was exhausting. I really realized how easily I am tiring now, just because walking around the city was wearing me out. I'm glad that we got to get away for one last time before the baby comes.
I have my 30 week doctor checkup on Thursday, so I will post how that goes. I know that I've been bad about posting belly pics lately. I promise to get one up soon!

29 Weeks
I've been feeling pretty well lately. I have a cold right now, so that is no fun, but it hasn't been too bad. I go in for another doctor's checkup on Tuesday, as I have to go every 2 weeks now.
We've been very busy every weekend, and this was no exception. This weekend was my dad's wedding. It was a fun time. I got to see some of my family that I don't normally see often, so that was nice. Hopefully the baby was able to hear the ceremony! Next weekend we are off to Chicago to visit our friends. Here are some pictures of us from the wedding...

This weekend
We went to a cookout on Saturday. It was pretty fun, and they had good food. I went to see my mom yesterday for Mother's Day. We had fun. We went to a late lunch. After that, we went shopping for the baby. Actually, I mostly looked at stuff, as my mom started loading tons of stuff to buy for the baby. This baby is going to be spoiled! It was fun looking for things for him. Especially since now it is getting closer to him being here. Less than 3 months to go!
I have noticed that since I started taking the iron pills, the baby is moving around quite a bit more than he was for a while. I hope that he was alright during the time while the doctors didn't realize that I was anemic. I guess he was anemic too. It did seem like he wasn't quite as active as he was before, but I just thought I was being the paranoid first-time mom again. I'm just glad that they figure out what was wrong. I do have some more energy also now that I'm taking the iron pills, so that is nice. I bought a few more pregnancy work-out DVDs. The one that I had before was really boring and I had stopped doing it. The new ones seem a little more exciting, so hopefully I will like them better. It is hard to get myself motivated to do them because I've been a little tired, but I'm going to try.

27 Week Dr. Appointment
I had my 27 week checkup today. The doctor listened to the baby's heartbeat and measured my belly. He said that it looks like the baby is growing a lot, and everything looks good. I have been noticing that my uterus is tightening up for a couple of seconds, then relaxing. I told him about this, and he said that it could be contractions. He didn't seem too worried about it though. He said that you can have contractions in the second half of your pregnancy as your body starts getting ready for labor. He told me that if they happen again, I should time them and let him know how often they are happening.
They also tested me for gestational diabetes. I had to drink this gross orange drink. Then, I waited an hour and they drew my blood. They will test it to make sure everything is alright.
The books say that the baby is about 2lbs this week. He can open and close his eyes now. He also may suck his fingers in preparation for feeding. He may also start hiccuping, but I haven't noticed this yet. I'm not really sure if I would recognize the feeling though, so we'll see...

27 Weeks
We went to a wedding on Saturday, and didn't get home until very late. I am incredibly exhausted today. I think that I'm hitting a new point in the pregnancy where my energy levels are changing. I was really tired in the first trimester. During the second trimester, I felt really great. I think I technically start my third trimester this week, and I am tired. I think that it is a combination of staying out late on Saturday and being pregnant.
Besides being tired, I have other new symptoms. My back is starting to ache. Also, my stomach muscles literally feel like they are tearing. I guess I should feel lucky that I have had such an easy pregnancy so far. Hopefully these symptoms will get better soon, but I have a feeling they are here to stay. I will be going to bed early tonight.
On a good note, our weekend was nice. The wedding was fun. I noticed that the baby started moving around a lot when the loud music started, and didn't stop until the music stopped. I don't think he liked it. I'm not sure if he didn't like it because it was loud, or if he just wasn't happy with the song choices. Either way, it was interesting to know that he could hear the music and responded to it.

Anemia
My doctor told me that my blood test came back and I am anemic. I started taking an additional iron supplement to make up for it. I think that it is helping. I did notice that I was feeling a little weird sometimes. I was feeling light-headed and just not well in general. So, I think that is what was causing it. I guess we'll wait and see if it gets better. I have another doctor checkup in 2 days, so they will probably re-run my blood tests again.
