Lights Out

Apparently, when you live in The Netherlands and pay your landlord rent that is supposed to include utilities this does not mean that you will actually be provided with proper utilities.

W.T.F.

We have been without electric for one week now. Our landlord decided to pocket the extra money that we were paying him for utilities instead of paying for them. So, the electric company showed up and cut it off.

Awesome.

Oh, and the typical Dutch response came from my landlord... "Ï don't know why you are upset with me, as it is not MY fault."

If there is one thing that the Dutch people are lacking, it is accountability. I have seen it over and over here.

Oh well, I'm done complaining about this. I'm going to go hang out in this dark room with a few candles and freeze in the cold and think about how nice it would be to have a cup of coffee and also food that can be kept in the refridgerator.

Wait, am I still complaining? Yes. I am. I would complain some more but Efe's laptop battery is about to die and I don't know how long my neighbor's stolen internet signal will last.

Enjoying Spring

Finally, it is getting warm out and we have found something that we have been waiting for... KIDS! Mason and I have had a really hard time finding kids and we thought it was because they were all in school, but it seems they were mostly hiding from the bad weather.

A few days this past week, it has been really nice, and all the neighbor kids have been out in the playground behind our house. The kids have been slowly warming up to Mason. At first, they just looked at him funny because they had no idea what he was saying (they all speak Dutch), but today, they seemed to be starting to accept him into the group, which was a great feeling.
