Berlin

During my mom and Rene's visit, we made a short trip to check out Berlin. I didn't realize how stupid I was until I got there, but it was a great history lesson! We drove there from A'dam, which took us half a day, so we got there around 3pm on Tuesday. Mason was surprisingly good in the car. It was about 6.5 hours of driving each way and he did great! We settled in to our apartment and went for dinner and then to bed that night.

On the second day, we did a city bus tour to see all of the sites. We knew we didn't have much time in the city and thought it would be the best way to see a lot in such a short amount of time.

Through-out the city, you can see these bricks on the ground to represent where the Berlin Wall used to run. At first we had mistaken the sidewalk for this marking, but we finally found the right one. Whoops!
We visited Checkpoint Charlie, which was the American Army checkpoint between East and West Berlin.

We loved the little crosswalk guy who was all throughout the city.

We then hopped in the car for our long ride back. We were starving and decided to stop somewhere for lunch. We accidentally found the most awesome authentic German restaurant about 45 minutes outside of Berlin. The schnitzel was delicious!
